JUVENILE
CONFERENCE COMMITTEE
West
Caldwell has a Juvenile Conference Committee composed of between 6 and 9
volunteers who meet to hear and make recommendations on matters involving
alleged juvenile offenders in the Township. The process consists of a meeting in
which the offense and other related factors are discussed voluntarily by the
juvenile, the parents and/or guardians, and the Committee. The Committee
carefully considers this information when making recommendations designed to
facilitate the juvenile’s rehabilitation. The Judge then receives the
Committee’s recommendations and upon approval they become a court order which
is monitored by the JCC. Once all conditions of the court order have been
fulfilled, the case is dismissed.
