Garbage service is provided twice a week on a Monday/Thursday, Tuesday/Friday or Wednesday/Saturday schedule. New residents should either call the Municipal Building at 226-2300 or ask their neighbors to find out the collection days for their area of town. Missed trash removals by the private contractor should be reported to the Municipal Building (226-2300). Regular sanitary service includes the following items for curbside pick-up:

* Household refuse, commonly called "wet garbage".
* Household appliances and furniture.
* Tree branches UNDER 6 inches in diameter and UNDER 4 feet in length which MUST be securely tied and bundled.
* Christmas trees (watch TV 36 for the specially designated days in January when these can be collected for recycling).

The Public Works Department runs a debris pick-up program to help residents discard items not collected by the regular garbage contractor (with some limitations). Pick-ups are on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Residents must call 973-226-2300 to schedule an appointment for pick up. Items should not be placed at the curb until the Township has been called and an appointment confirmed. 

The item must be placed by the curbside before 7:00 AM on the scheduled day. Each resident is limited to one scheduled pick up per 30-day period. This program applies to residential property only and must be a product of that home or property. The Township will not pick up any materials generated by any contractor employed by the homeowner. The homeowner must have done all work. In no case shall the amount to be picked up exceed 2 cubic yards (a regular pick up truck sized load). The Township reserves the right to refuse to pick up items that do not meet the program guidelines. Call before you place items at the curb.
