WEST CALDWELL REORGANIZATION MEETING HELD SUNDAY, JANUARY 2

The annual Reorganization Meeting of the Mayor and Council of the Township of West Caldwell was held on Sunday, January 2, 2005 at 12 noon. 

The first order of business was the Oath of Office to be given to Councilman Joseph Fischer and Councilwoman-elect Rosemarie Sutherlin who start new three year terms this year.

Following the Oaths of Office, there was a role call, pledge of allegiance and the singing of the National Anthem by Caitlin Fischer, daughter of Councilman Joe Fischer.

The invocation was then given by Rev. John J. LaFerrera of St. Philomena's Convent in Livingston..  

The next order of business was the award of the Distinguished Service Medal to Sergeant Michael B. Orr by Gunnery Sergeant Mario Monaco from the United States Marine Corp. Sergeant Orr is a member of the West Caldwell Police Force who has served in Iraq as part of the National Guard.

The Council then elected Dominick Aiello as Council President for 2005.

 Standing Committees of the Council were announced by Mayor Tempesta.

Council representation on other committees, boards and committees were then announced and 22 routine resolutions were adopted by consent. 

Mayor Tempesta then presented his list of annual appointments. Joseph Maddaloni, Jr. was appointed municipal attorney. The balance for the most part were reappointments of current office holders. (See Appointed Officials for current listing) 

 Later, a resolution confirming the appointment of the Fire Department Officers was passed by the Council.

Citizen appointments to the various boards and commissions were then presented by Mayor Tempesta. Again, the majority of these were reappointments. (See Boards and Commissions for current list of members).

Mayor Joe Tempesta then presented his annual message that reviewed the accomplishments of 2004 and the anticipated plans for 2005 (see Mayor's message). Several other officials and past officials spoke and the meeting was adjourned at 1:20 PM.
